“Working Together for a Stronger Future”
Hermantown Legacy Fund has provided grants for a variety of community resources. We have helped support Hermantown’s Volunteer Fire Department, the Rose Ensemble, and the Hermantown Police Department. In recent years, we helped support pulling the entire community together in a city-wide National Night Out that featured both the HPD and HVFD, as well as other community organizations.
We have long been a supporter of the Hermantown High School Grad Party, an annual event that allows our graduating Hawks to experience a superb, yet safe, celebration of their accomplishments.
Additionally, the Hermantown Legacy Fund has provided grants for the Epilepsy Foundation, the YMCA, Children’s Dental Services, and the Hermantown Historical Society.
The Hermantown Legacy Fund has also supported the Respect Retreat; a performance conducted in coordination with an organization called Youth Frontiers. Youth Frontiers sends several trained staff members to lead our ninth grade through a full day of activities meant to build unity, build character, and encourage students to have the courage to treat each other with respect.
HHS has been running a Respect Retreat for more than 15 years. The challenge and opportunity is to create a positive culture for our students at HHS. The Respect Retreat is run during homecoming week, early in the school year. The idea is that it is a day for students to experience what school would be like if everyone was respected, and to challenge them to respect themselves and others.
Hermantown Community Schools is a public school district, serving early childhood through grade 12 students along with adults through community education. The district’s mission is to positively influence the future of all learners through engaging and challenging educational experiences. In the Hermantown School District we have about 2,100 total students. The number of students in each building varies slightly. The Elementary School is home to 800 students in K-4. The Middle school serves about 600 students and the High School building is close to 700.
